Corona-Virus Update

Dear valuable customers,

following please find some information regarding the current market situation:

Overview:
In regards to the inland services in Germany (pre- and on-carriage FCL) the train operators have significantly lower import volumes from Asia. As a consequence train connections are getting canceled and containers are rolled to the next train departure. In addition we might see shortage in staff and delay of administrative processes which can impact the lead time of the containers. As a consequence it cannot be guaranteed that vessel closings can be reached and/or deliveries arranged in time.

Furthermore, in case of disruption of ports’ operations, the cargo may be discharged in an alternative port without notice and – subject to availability – be on forwarded to the original intended port of destination. Carriers reserve its rights to accomplish the bill of lading in any alternative port. All additional costs, including but not limited to storage, demurrage, plugging, monitoring at the alternative discharge port or extra on forwarding costs, shall be on customers account and Brelog shall have no liability whatsoever for any loss or damage resulting thereof.

Our team will contact you in case your shipment is impacted. Please understand that Brelog is not liable for the shortcomings and that additional costs have to be billed to the freight payer as per outlay.

In regards to airfreight please note that only very limited carriers are still operating international flight connectings. Any airfreight shipment has to checked case by case.

Export:
Original-B/L:
In view of the volatile and unpredictable development with regards to upcoming measures concerning COVID-19 (Corona virus) we would like to ask you to immediately abstain from requesting Original bills of lading whenever possible and switch to Sea Waybills only.

Seafreight Export Cancelation Fee:
Since Chinese New Year we have seen a very high number of blank sailings on the trade lane from Asia to Europe. As a consequence the German export industry is facing significant challenges to get space for the export cargo. In order to secure space and allocation many parties placed pre-bookings at the carrier. The pre-bookings exceeded the available capacity in the market by far. In many cases the pre-bookings were adjusted shortly before vessel departure and the real bookings were much lower. Due to the short timeline the carriers are not able to allocate the volume to other parties.

With immediate effect the carrier are now implementing a ‘Seafreight Export Cancelation Fee’. In cases of booking cancelations less than 21 days before vessel Departure the charge will apply. The level differs from carrier to carrier in a corridor of EUR 75-250/TEU. These charges will be billed to the shipper without expections.

In this context we would like to remind you that all dead freight for pre-carriage and seafreigth has to be billed to our customers.

Import:
At this stage carriars, terminals, truckers, railway and barge-operators are working without significant interruption. In case of future shut downs of individual Operators we will look for alternatives and solutions. In case Operators stop their service or consignees/warehouses cannot receive the cargo the related costs will be charged asper outlay.

We highly appreciated your understand.
